Mr. Larry Dean Kitchens, 71, entered into his eternal rest, Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016.
Services were held Oct.10, at James Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Don Black and David Jones officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow at Stapleton Baptist Church.
Mr. Kitchens was one of three children born to the late S.M. Kitchens and the late Audrey Sheppard Kitchens. A native of Stapleton, he was a 1963 graduate of Wrens High School and had lived in Glascock County since 1976. He retired in 2000 after serving 34 years as a computer operator with Fort Gordon Civil Service.
Mr. Kitchens was a loyal longtime member of the Gibson Masonic Lodge #257, The Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and The Thomson Shrine Club. He loved working in the yard, gardening, fishing and spending time with family.
Mr. Kitchens is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joanne Black Stewart Kitchens; their children, Lewis Dean Kitchens, Jackie Lee (Lora) Stewart, Larry (Linda) Stewart, and Dwayne (Pam) Stewart; seven grandchildren, Donny Stewart, Chad Stewart, Dakota Stewart, Dylan Stewart, Cynthia Denise Kitchens, Taylor Epps and Kasyddie Browning; his sister, Linda (Don) Black; in-laws, Melvin “Buck” (Margie) Black, Vance Black, Jessie Black, Ronnie (Lisa) Black, Noah (Elaine) Black, Charlene Hadden, and Linda (James)Buffington; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends,
Mr. Kitchens is also preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Kitchens; and a close first cousin, Harry Humphrey Jr.
Pallbearers were James Buffington, Bennett Clark, Roger Dye, Jeremy Kelley, Lansin Newsome, Charles Reese, James Sutton, James Willoughby and Bobby Williams. Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge #257 and the Wrens High School Class of 1963.
