Mr. William Christopher Rountree, age 57, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 25, 2017, at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his family. A resident of Bulloch County, Chris was the son of Patricia Rountree, and W.O. “Billy” and Carolyn Rountree. He was a 1976 graduate of Louisville High School.
Chris worked at Battle Lumber Company in Wadley. He was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church, where he enjoyed serving, cheering for the softball team, and loving on the babies in the nursery. Chris loved his family and friends, and he enjoyed spending his time with them.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Martha Ann Rountree of Statesboro; four daughters, Katie Rountree and Christina Rountree of Statesboro, Bessie Rountree of Metter, and Mary Ann Rountree of Memphis, Tennessee; one grandson, Christopher Payton Sconyers of Metter; two sisters, one step-sister, and two brothers-in-law, Connie Rountree of Louisville, Hubie and Suzanne Saunders of Louisville, and Chad and Stacey Jung of Springfield.
The family received visitors on Friday, Oct. 27 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Statesboro. Funeral services were held immediately following visitation at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Eastern Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating. Honorary pallbearers were members of the EHBC Softball Team.
