Linda Sue Bragg Miller, 52, entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, April 6, 2017 at her residence.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 6 p.m. Friday evening, April 14, 2017, with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating.
The eldest of five girls born to the late Faye Stewart Bragg Newsome, Linda was a native of Wrens, where she attended Wrens High School and worked locally for Huddle House and Peggy’s. She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching her favorite TV show “Reba” and traveling.  She especially loved being at the beach, where she found relaxation and peace and was most content. She had a passionate love of music which she always found therapeutic. She was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. A dog lover, her latest canine “baby,” Bella, provided her great pleasure and comfort. Linda did enjoy her friends and family, but needed her “alone” time. Her petite frame housed a fierce, high-spirited determination and strong-will and she was often out-spoken with her opinions. Linda suffered tremendous emotional and physical battles in the last ten years starting with the loss of her precious son in an automobile accident in 2007 and ending with losing her hard-fought battle with cancer.  We take comfort in the fact that her suffering has ended and that she is now at peace.

Mr. Moses “Bee” Cody Sr.

Moses “Bee” Cody Sr., son of the late Henry and Lillie Cody (Nee Dickerson) was born on April 22, 1927 in Emanuel County. He was one of 16 children. After a long and full life, God called him into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the early morning.
Moses was educated in the Wadley School System in Wadley. After completing his education, Moses enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly until 1946. Moses served his country in the U.S. and Tokyo, Japan during various tours with the United States Army.
Moses returned home after his tour of duty and married the love of his life Margaret Marion. To that union four children were born, Moses Jr., Lee Edward, Patricia and Rufus Cody.
Moses worked for the Union Bag and Paper Company in Savannah. Like many of his siblings, Moses decided to relocate to the North for a better opportunity and he settled in Philadelphia, Penn. In Philadelphia, Moses made his career in the construction industry specializing in masonry work. Moses found great personal reward in his vocation and continued until his retirement in 1990.
Although Moses moved to Philadelphia, he never forgot his family roots. Moses would visit his siblings and most often his sister Addie in New Jersey. Moses was certain to spend holidays and special occasions with family. He was renowned for his signature laugh. Moses was sure to light up a room with his presence and laughter.
After retirement, Moses returned home to the town of Wadley. Upon arriving there Moses found his niche in gardening. If you visited him (on what is affectionately called by the family The Cody Farm), you were met with the yield and abundance of his master gardening skills. Summer after summer, Moses would reap a harvest of watermelon, squash, pears and more. He learned quickly how to keep the deer away from the garden by creating a “scarecrow” which consisted of pie pans strung together with string. The pie pans would keep the deer away and protect the harvest he worked so hard on each year. Moses even learned how to make pear preserves from his sister Addie. When the pears were in full harvest he would can them as often as he could. Moses, was faithful each summer with his garden until his health no longer afforded him the opportunity to do so.
Moses and his sister Addie had a loving relationship. The bond they shared was unparalleled and he traveled with her the past decade to school reunions, family dinners and other special occasions.
Moses reconnected with his childhood classmate Ms. Elouise Demus.
Moses was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lillie Cody; eight sisters and six brothers, Bessie Smith, Carrie Darsaw, Mary Green, Dorothy Wilcher, Beaulah Wright, Sylvia Marion, Gertie Cody, Hattie Smith, Edward, John, William, Isaiah, Lonzy and Oliver Cody; two sons, Moses Cody Jr. and Lee Edward Cody; one daughter, Patricia Cody; two step-sons, Van Potier and Ronnie Marion. Moses leaves to mourn with cherished memories one sister, Addie Cody-Moseley of Jersey City, NJ and Wadley; two sons, Rufus Cody of Deerfield Beach, Fla. and Tyrone Moore of Philadelphia, Penn.; one step-daughter Betty Taylor; one step-son, Dwight Osborne; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; a special and devoted friend Ms. Elouise Demus and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Moses contributed his longevity to a good “beverage” and Just “taking it easy…heee heee.”

Lilawease “Wease” Williams Broxton, 86, loving wife of the late Thomas Earl Broxton Sr., entered into her eternal rest Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Trinity Hospital in Augusta. Funeral services will be held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2017, with Dr. Stan Littleton and Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta.
Born to the late Lena and Eshol Williams, Wease was a native of Hazelhurst where she graduated high school, met and married the love of her life, and lived until moving to Burke County in 1951 when her husband took over the family farm.  When her husband’s health decline in 1995, they moved to Avera to be closer to their son.  An industrious, hard-worker, Wease made her home a safe haven for her family and worked as a seamstress in several garment companies. She loved to sew, which she considered her “therapy”, as well as working in the yard and her flower and vegetable gardens—she had a green thumb and could grow anything. Being very active and having a strong-willed personality, Wease never gave up and had a “can do” attitude.  She was quick to share her opinions and you never had to guess or wonder how she felt about anything as she was a “say what you mean” type person.  Accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, she served Him at Bottsford Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Waldens United Methodist Church in Avera, and Wrens United Methodist Church.  Wease’s greatest pleasure and joy was her family whom she loved unconditionally. Her death leaves a void that no one can fill, but her love leaves memories that no one can steal.
Wease was also preceded in death by her daughter, Earlena B. Wright; and five siblings, A. J. Williams, Mary Buford, H. L. Williams, Robert T. Williams and B. A. Williams. Survivors include her children, Peggy B. McLeRoy (Charles) and Tommy Broxton (Dawn); son-in-law, Dr. James Wright (Barbara); siblings, Jewell M. Williams and Virginia Brooke; six grandchildren, Patrick Broxton (Amy), Kristi Broxton (Brady Brassell), Tera Collins, Stephen Wright, Timothy Wright and Katie Wright; nine great grandchildren, Jason Williams, Barrett Usry, Briel Bussell, Ayden Broxton, Piper Broxton, Michael Collins, Haley Collins, Macie Brassell and Olivia Wright; one great-great grandson, Peyton Abrams; a host of nieces and nephews; and many “in-laws”, “out-laws” and friends.  Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Hodge, Walker Lewis, Michael Reese, Brandon Walden, Keith Walden and Damon Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ayden Broxton, Barrett Usry and Jason Williams.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Wrens UMC Building Fund, 202 Russell Street, Wrens GA 30833.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017.

Edward Lee Bryant, 61, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, April 20, 2017 at his sister’s residence.  Funeral services were held in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2017, with Rev. Joe Walden and Rev. Danny Rountree officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Matthews.
One of nine children born to the late Maggie Ruth Bryant Prickett, Edward grew up in Matthews, attended school in Wrens and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He quit school at a young age to help support his family, working in the fields—picking cotton and reaping other crops. Edward was a hard, diligent worker, employed by Barrow & Prescott and Arrington Paint & Body. Being an outdoorsman, his favorite pastime was fishing.  He also collected fishing poles and could often be seen “dumpster diving for hidden treasures” to add to his collection of “things”—things some would consider junk.  Edward loved NASCAR—his favorite driver was Tony Stewart—and wrestling (WWE).  To him, a stranger was just a friend he had not yet met and he absolutely loved meeting and spending time with people—he always had a kind word and wanted people to laugh and feel good. Being from a large family, who lovingly nicknamed him “Rags”, but never having married, he especially enjoyed being with his siblings and their families. A gentle, good-hearted man, Edward gave his life to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and attended Your Hope Church in Matthews.
Edward is also preceded in death by his three siblings, James “Bubba” Bryant, Denny Prickett and Penny Prickett.   Survivors include his siblings, Patricia “Sweet” Bryant, Woudia Farthing, David Bryant (Karen), Charles Bryant and Martha Bryant; a host of nieces and nephews (and greats); and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryce Amerson, Brad Arrington, Paul Arrington, Tony Arrington, Keith Boulineau, and Barrow Walden.
Because of a long-term illness and very limited income, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made directly to James Funeral Home, P.O. Box 588, Wrens GA  30833.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at James Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, April 22, 2017.
