Deacon James Willie Broomfield, of 2214 Nelson Lane, Louisville, departed this life Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Broomfield was a native of Jefferson County. He was born the son to the parentage of the late Willie James Broomfield and Ada Hill Broomfield in Louisville. He was a High School Graduate of the Jefferson County High School Class of 1967. He was a devoted and dedicated member of the Greater Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, and served for over 20 years in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister; Dorothy Tennyson.
Survivors include his children; Demetic Lamar Broomfield, Maryland, Aletha (Harvey) McGruder Eberhart, Augusta, Felicia Broomfield, and Dearra (Laverne) White, Colorado Spring, CO; sister, Grace Williams, Louisville; grandchildren, Jarvis Broomfield, Javon Broomfield, Charvonne Walker, Rayshawn Dearmon, Keion White, Trayvon White, Teondra McGruder, and Victoria McGruder; great-grandchildren, Jaceyon Walker, Derriale Williams, and Javon Tarver; aunts and uncles, John Henry Broomfield, Louisville, Mary Brizel, Miami, Fla. and Cressie Hill, Louisville; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Greater Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Louisville, with Pastor, Reverend Christopher B. Durden as Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
