Apostle Joe L. Payge was born Oct. 10, 1934 in Davisboro to the late Jonas Payge and Rosa Lee Braswell. On Jan. 11, 2017, Apostle Payge heard God’s voice saying, “Well done my child, you fought a good fight.”
A ceremony celebrating his life and legacy was held on Monday, Jan. 6, at Miracle Deliverance Church in Edison with Apostle Bobby Frison officiating, eulogy by Pastor Willie Ford.
Apostle Payge was overseer and founder of Miracle Deliverance Center, Inc. Truly an anointed man of God, he didn’t mind letting you know about the God he served. He could often be heard across the church with his favority saying, “Whoopee” and “Amen Lights.” He was a man that never met strangers and a father to many.
Apostle Paye took his wings and left many to celebrate his life and legacy, including a loving wife, Rosemary Helms Payge; children, Mikel (Brenda) Payge, Leon (Dean) Payge of Jacksonville, Fla., April (Anthony) Calloway, Luverne Helms and Steve Helms all of Dothan, Ala.; three sisters, Sara Huff, Shirley (George) Scott all of Rochester, NY, and Betty (R.J.) Lovett of Philadelphia, Penn.; four brothers-in-law, Jasper (Helen) Helms, John (Barbara) Helms, Billy Helms and James Jones of New Jersey; six sisters-in-law, Annie (Apostle Bobby) Fison, Fannie Thomas, Shirley McCree, Millie Minniefield, Ruby Helms, all of Dothan, and Janice Jones of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and host of cousins, friends and members of MDC Inc. A special thanks to a nephew, William Jordan, Ricky (Karen) Miller and Sally Euford.
