 Mrs. Mary Williams Boyd of Tennille entered into rest, July 30, 2016, at Washington County Medical in Sandersville. Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug.13, at Cannon Galilee Baptist Church in Louisville with Rev. Robert Stokes officiating. Interment will be in the Lone Star Society Cemetery.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Jefferson County, January 13, 1951, the second of seven children, to the late Jimmy L. and Lenora Howard Williams. She became a member of Cannon Galilee at a very young age. She was a 1972 graduate of Louisville High School.
Mrs. Boyd’s memories will be cherished by her children, Dexter (September) Boyd  of Hephzibah, and Ebony (Michael) Wilson of CA; her siblings, Freddie Williams, Lamar Williams and Alvin Williams of Louisville and Jimmy Williams of Tennessee, Queenie (Robert) Jackson of Mobile, Al and Sandra (Clifford) Russ ) of Tennessee; grandchildren: Tyzera, Cerrius, Blayant, and Justus Wilson, Mauiauna Brown, Amanti Brown, Taniya Staley, Lyaya Lawrence and Autumn Lawrence; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sons, Randy and Baran Boyd.

Mr. Edgar Lee “Eddie” Carr, 7001 Clarks Mill Road departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016 at Doctor’s Hospital, Augusta. 
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 22, at the James and Virginia Davis Chapel, Louisville,   Burial will be held in the Spring Bethel Benevolent Society Cemetery, Louisville.
Mr. Carr was the son of the late George Carr, Sr. and Thelma Paschal Carr, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and at an early age he joined the Woodlawn Baptist Church.  He was employed at C. T. Harris for many years and was presently employed at Boral Bricks of Augusta.
One brother precedes him in death, George Carr, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Lee Lewis Carr, Augusta,  One son, Natravius ( Jessica ) Carr, Sr., Augusta,  daughter, Brendrica Carr, Augusta, brothers, Leotis (Julia) Carr, Rev. James B.  Carr, Louisville, sister, Joanne (Archie) Brinson, Cross-Green Community; Grandchildren, Aniyah Carr, Nastiah Carr, Natravius Carr, Jr., Augusta  Mother-in-law, Amanda Lewis, Wadley, Sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, Shirley Harmon, Joe Lewis, Wadley,Lorenzo Laster, Millen; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Danny Daniels departed his life on Sunday, Aug.14, 2016, at Jefferson County Hospital in Louisville. 
He was born Aug. 10, 1972, in Sparta to the late Julius Daniels, Sr. and Eddie Mae Daniels. He attended Jefferson County Public School System, and was employed by Atwell Pecan Company in Wrens as a shipping clerk. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his father, Julius Daniels, Sr. three sisters, Mildred Daniels Johnson, Virginia Daniels and Sallie L. Daniels, one step son, Andre Harris.
Funeral services were held Friday Aug. 19, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Avera. Reverend Wallace Peoples Pastor Presiding and Reverend Julius Daniels, Jr. Officiant.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Jordan Daniels: his children: Tashic Cheely and Nicole Daniels all of Wrens, four step children Deneatrece (Clarence) Butts, LaKeith Jordan Wrens, LaTeisha Jordan Augusta, and Tariesha Jordan Lousiville, his mother, Eddie  Mae Daniels Wrens, four sisters Alfleitla (William) Daniels Anderson, Thomson, Mary (Jack) Brown, Brenda (Clinton) Murray Stapleton, Rosa Mae Brown, Wrens, ten brothers: Pastor Julius ( Evangelist Dorothy) Daniels, Bell Port NY, John Willie Daniels Amittyville NY, Pastor C.W. (Ollie) Stone, Chester (Melissa) Stone, James Edward (Cynthia) Stone, Jimmy Lee Stone, John Willie Daniels, Wrens, Thomas (Mokesha) Daniels Louisville, and Ricky Stone Augusta; one god sister, Phyllis Burley; one god brother Eddie Burley Wrens; two aunts, Lola Mae Roberts Stapleton, and Louise Daniels Avera; one uncle , Charlie Thomas Daniels West Bury Long Island, NY. 14 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, one special friend, Caroline Brown.

 Mr. Eli Harmon, Sr. entered into rest Aug. 3, 2016 at Heritage of Old Capitol in Louisville. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 7, at Eden Baptist church in Louisville with Rev. James O. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Harmon was born in Jefferson County, Louisville, April 16, 1942 to the late Robert Harmon, Sr. and Isabell McGruder Harmon. At a very young age he became a member of Farmer Grove AME Church. After the closing of Farmer Grove he joined Eden Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board. He received his education in the Jefferson County School System. He was a former member of Sons of Louisville Lodge #579, 32 Degree Mason, Swainsboro Consistory #317, and a former Shriner.
Mr. Harmon retired from Fulghum Fibres/US Chips several years ago. He was a hard worker and a crane operator.
Survivors includes his wife, Lessie Harmon of Louisville; children, Eli  (Evelyn) Harmon, Jr. and Leroy (Debbie) Ruff of Louisville, Michael (Vera) Ruff ) of Atlanta, , Josephine (Ricky) Riddlesof Swainsboro, and Annie (James) Franklin ) of Hebzibah,  brothers, Willie  (Frances) Harmon  and Berry (Jeanett) Harmon of Hebzibah,  and Isaiah (Inell) Harmon  of Louisville, sisters, Mamie Harmon and Mary Harmon of Louisville, Grandchildren, LaShanta K. Marion, Lorenzo Ruff, Antonio Thomas, Dapheny Janice, Earl Wells, Jr., Matthew Wells, Travinsky Ruff, Demetrus Ruff, Deon Ruff, Camilla Ruff and Eli Harmon III; brothers-n-law, William Yancey and Homer Brown, Jr. of Wrens, sisters-n-law, Mary Ruff, Betty Ruff and Ethel Boatwright of Louisville, Evangelist Myrtis Nesbitt Harris of Jacksonville, FL, Will Eva Easterlin of Bowie, MD,  Marion Ruff of FT. Lauderdale, FL and Janice  (Freddie) Murray  of Wrens,  eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 Mr. Raymond Huntley of Newark, NJ entered into rest July 29, 2016 at his resident in Newark, NJ. Services were held Aug. 13, at St Matthew AME Church in Louisville with Rev. Willie Johnson officiating and Rev. Joseph Wheeler presiding. Interment  in the Courdeleon Society Cemetery.
Mr. Huntley was born here in Jefferson County,  Dec. 6, 1949, to the late Liza Cates Neal and Willie Huntley, Sr. He became a member of St. Matthew AME Church at a very young age. He was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson County High School. He was a former employee of Thermo King Corporation until he moved to New Jersey several years ago.
Mr. Huntley’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Evelyn Jackson  Huntley of Bartow, children: Quinton Huntley of Lawrenceville, Duwan Bey of Bloomfield, NJ and Brandi (Al) Huntley  of Atlanta, siblings, Gardner  (Sandra) Huntley of Philadelphia, PA, Willie Huntley, Jr. of Wrens  and Bo Neal of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Jarvis Huntley, Kylin (Jace) Huntley-Hines, Christeva Bey and Tyrek Bey; his god-son and  nephew, Courtney Jackson of Bloomfield NJ; sister-n-law, Delois May of Bartow, Minnie Jackson and Bevlyn Curry of Bloomfield, NJ and Chlesea Neal of CA; god-sister, Essie Smith of Wrens,  nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Jefferson County High Class of 1967. Active pallbearers  were cousins and friends.

Mr. Robert Jefferson “Jeff” Jones, Jr., 63, husband of 39 years to Dianne Peebles Jones, entered into his eternal rest Thursday morning, Aug.18, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services were Sunday afternoon, Aug. 21, at Wrens Baptist Church with Rev. James Emery and Rev. Janet Sack officiating. Interment will follow in the Ways Baptist Church Cemetery.
 Mr. Jones, the youngest of five children born to the late Bessie Neal Fleming Jones and the late Robert Jefferson Jones, Sr.,  was a lifelong resident of Matthews. After graduating from Louisville High School, he went to college but had to quit after less than a year upon the death of his father and took over the family farm. In 1983 he gave up being a row crop farmer, and opened Robert J. Jones Nursery which better suited him as he loved working with plants and flowers. A hard worker, he excelled in the business and quickly became known for his knowledge and expertise. Jeff was a big outdoorsman and loved to hunt—he felt at peace in nature. Accepting God’s free gift of salvation at the age of 13, Jeff was a committed servant of his Lord and Savior for 50 years at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities—teaching Sunday School, being the Sunday School Superintendent, keeping the grounds, and serving on the Cemetery Committee.. 
Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Jones; and brother, Arthur “Buck” Jones. Other survivors include his son, Robert J. (Erin) Jones, III  the joy of his life, granddaughter, Elizabeth Reid Jones; three sisters, Nina (Olin) Mercer , Ina James and Bobby Neal Schneider; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers were Clark Fisher, Rob James, Greg Mercer, Ken Mercer, Marty Mercer, Zach Ryan, Johnny Schneider, Tony Schneider, Matt Story and Phillip Story, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers were  The Thursday Night Supper Club.
Because of Jeff’s love for his church, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Mt. Moriah UMC, c/o Dianne Stewart, 8219 GA Hwy 88 E, Keysville GA 30816.

Mrs. Bessie Bales Moore, 75, of Moore Road Avera, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, 2016, in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Walden United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Griswell and Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jeffery Davis, Gregory Roper, Kristopher Tarnow, Keith Walden, John Padgett and Jon Bales, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers were:  John Bales, Sr., Tim Padgett and S. J. Bradford.  
Mrs. Moore a native of Mitchell, was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Arvell Dixon Bales.  She was a seamstress with Stapleton Garment Factory for over 20 years and a member of Walden United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon Moore and grandson, Nickolas Tarnow and is survived by daughters, Christine Moore Roper of Avera and Linda  (Sidney) Swint of Gibson; adopted daughters, Kristy Gardner of Gibson and Beth Dawson Snyder of Gibson; sister, Ann Bradford of Gibson, brother, David Bales of Gibson; grandsons, Jeffery Davis of Gibson, Kristopher Tarnow of Gibson, Greggory Roper of Grovetown and William Roper, Jr. of Anniston, Alabama; granddaughter, Amanda Roper of Anniston, Alabama; 5 great grandchildren several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bobby Newsome, 58, entered into rest Aug. 19, 2016.
 Mr. Newsome was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was the son of the late Cecil Newsome and the late Willie Maude Brooks Newsome. Mr. Newsome was a carpenter and mechanic and served as caretaker of the Omaha Springs Hotel for 28 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved the outdoors.
 Survivors include his beloved wife, Brenda Newsome; daughters, Pamela Sue Norton and Bobbie Allison Norton; brother, Thurmond (Joyce) Newsome  sisters, Brenda  (Raymond) Ray,  Betty Newsome, Lisa Newsome, Cindy(Tommie) Wells; mother-in-law, Dianne James Curl; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter.
 Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Wrens Church of God with Pastor Jason Burton and Brother Clarence Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wrens Church of God Cemetery in Matthews.

Mr. Lee Edward Shellman, Jr. of 7202 Church Street, Bartow entered into rest, Wednesday at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral service were held  Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant CME Church in Bartow with Rev. Willie B. Tomlin officiating and Rev. Keith Jay presiding. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Shellman was born in Jefferson County,  June 18, 1934. He was the son of the late Lee Edward Shellman, Sr. and Annie P. Chatman Shellman. He received his education in the Jefferson County School system. At a very young age he became a member of Mt. Pleasant CME Church and served faithfully. He was an Emeritus member. 
Mr. Shellman was a Life Time member and Past President of NAACP, a dedicated member of The Charlie Brown Kidney Foundation and The Fuller Foundation. On August 1978 he was the Architect and Builder of Mt. Pleasant CME Church. He was an instrumental self-employed carpenter of Jefferson County and the surrounding area.
Mr. Shellman’s memories will be cherished by wife, BeBe Shellman of Bartow,  children, Jimmy Williams of McCray, Wendy D. Jones of Rochester, NY, Ann D. (Grant)Young of Waynesboro, and Shenna M. (Gil) Jones of Savannah,  siblings, Eddie Lee Fryer and Bernice Bevel of Jacksonville, FL, Lovia S. Wise and Author (Roxie) Braddy  of Bartow, Willie R.(Maxine) Shellman of Sudbury, Mass. And Marcus (Annie) Shellman of Capital Heights, MY; grandchildren, Jazmine, Cleo, John, Justin, Virginia and Samantha; two great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Chatman Shellman.
Honorary pallbearers were Stewards of Mt. Pleasant CME Church, NAACP, Charlie Brown Kidney Foundation and The Fuller Foundation.

Mr. Leroy “Roy” “Bartow Kid” Warthen, of 4014 Carolina Trail, Statesboro  departed this life Thursday, Aug.18, 2016 at the Vero Nursing Home, Wadley.
 Mr. Warthen was a native of Jefferson County. He was born to the parentage of the late Frank Warthen, Sr., and Rosetta Kelsey Warthen. He was a 1967 Graduate of the Jefferson County High School. He was a member of the Spears Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he was Ordained as a Deacon, served on the Pastor Aide Ministry, and Missionary Board, and was formally employed as a Truck Driver with CT Harris Trucking, and Rachford Trucking Companies.
 Survivors include his loving children; Latrice (James) Myers, Statesboro, , Joann Tarver, Sandersville,  and Terrance (Shamaria) Oliver, Wadley,  adopted daughter Kizzie Oliver, Wrightsville, step-children; Toccara Frazier, Wadley,  and Nekel Brown, Wadley,  siblings; Frank (Thykle) Warthen, Jr., Charlotte, North Carolina, David (Linda) Warthen, Augusta,  Jonathan Ezekiel Warthen, Augusta,  Frances (Walter) Mitchell, Wadley,  Betty Percell, Bronx, New York, Rosena Warthen, McDonald,  and Ernestine W. Matthews, Swainsboro, 22  grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, aunts; Annie Mae Daniels, Jacksonville, Florida, Mary N. Corley, Jacksonville, Florida, caregiver; Burnett Brown, Wadley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
 Funeral Services  were Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Spears Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4250 Coleman Chapel Road, Wadley, Georgia 30477 with Reverend C.W. Stone, as Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
