Mr. Thomas Edward “Tom” Armistead, age 74 of Highway 17, South, Louisville,  died Thursday morning, August 11, 2016 in the Doctors Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Dr. William “Bill” Daniel, Rev. Garland Hullender and Rev. David Boggs officiating. Burial in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Kevin Harris, Todd Armistead, David Armistead, Andy Cobb, Jimmy Fleming, David Gunn, Barry Bryant and Steve Pennington. Honorary Pallbearers were the present and former Louisville Fire Department members and the Buddy Carroll Sunday School Class.
Mr. Armistead, born in Augusta, was a son of the late Colley Dacus Armistead and Mary Bowles Armistead. Tom was a graduate of Richmond Academy and received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia in 1964. He had owned Jefferson Pharmacy and was a Pharmacist with Barney’s Pharmacy. He was a member of the Louisville United Methodist Church for 47 years where he was an active member and teacher of the Buddy Carroll Sunday school class and a Lay Speaker, Sunday school teacher at Jefferson County Correctional Institute, and a member of the Kairos Prison Ministry. Tom retired after 25 years of service from the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department as Assistant Chief, was a former member of Jefferson Hospital Authority, a former member and past President of the Louisville Kiwanis Club, former member of the Jefferson County Library Board, member of the Committee to establish Thomas Jefferson Academy, founding member of Woodlawn Hunting Club, and past president of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Armistead is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Anne J. Armistead of Louisville; daughters, Amy (Mike) Sasser of Waynesboro and Cara (Michael) Cobb of Louisville; grandsons, Daniel (Emily) Sasser and Alan Sasser of Waynesboro; granddaughters, Allison Cobb of Nashville, TN and Sydney Cobb of Louisville; great grandchildren, Halle and Jack Sasser of Waynesboro; brothers, Frank (Shirley) Armistead of Cumming and Joel (Eileen) Armistead of Lilburn; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Mrs. Catherine Paul Brown, 84, resident of Wadley, died Thursday  morning at Vero Health and Rehab in Wadley.  Mrs. Catherine was born in Wadley , daughter of the late James L. and Cora Dasher Paul.    Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Wadley High School, Class of 1949.   She had worked  for Atlanta Dairies as a bookeeper.  Mrs. Brown was a member of Coleman Chapel United Methodist  Church.  
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Paul Brown were held Sunday afternoon at  Coleman Chapel United Methodist  Church with Dr. Tom Akins and Reverend Hugh Baxter officiating.  Interment  in the Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers were  grandsons-- Chris Shawn Whisnant, Kenny Arthur, Jeremy Whisnant, Raymond Bell, Jr. , nephews--Charles Walberg and James Paul.   
Survivors ---Husband-- Horace D. Brown, Durham , NC, daughter Kathy L. (Buster) Whisnant, Waldey, Karen J. (Harold), Milbrook, Al., Paul Brown, Durham, N.C. Elyce Ann Brown, Augusta, brother Edward Paul, Metter, sister, Rebecca Hall, Wrightsville, four grandchildren, Cassandra (Ray) Bell, Swainsboro, Shawn (Teresia)  Tennille, Kenny (Rachel) Arthur, Millbrook, Al. Jeremy (Tiffnay) Whisnant, Kite . Four great grand children, Hunter and Kayleigh Arthur, Millbrook, Al., Peyton and Austin Newton, several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home of Wadley.
 
 
Mrs. Juanita Davis Cofer, 84, died Sunday morning, Aug. 14, 2016 at her residence. 
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Dr. David Hiberts and Dr. Bill Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were: Mike Cofer, James Davis, Brian Rabun, Owen Miller, Neal Miller and Steve Reagan. 
A native of Wrightsville, Mrs. Cofer was a daughter of the late James W. Davis and Pearl Gibson Davis. She was a homemaker and involved in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Jackson, SC and the Louisville United Methodist Church. She was active member of the United Methodist Women, where she had held several offices including president. For many years she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was a Cub Scout leader. Mrs. Cofer worked tirelessly alongside of her husband at the Louisville Food Pantry. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles H Cofer, Jr.; brothers, Charlie Davis, Jimmy Davis, Johnny Davis, Willie Davis and J.P. Davis; sisters, Sadie Sammons, Inez Waller, Jeanette Tanner and Ann Rabun and beloved granddaughter, Mary Allisun “Sunny” Brock and is survived by sons, John (Judith) Cofer and Jerry Wayne Cofer, daughters, Diane (David) Barnes and Julie (Billy) Sargent all of Louisville; grandchildren, Tanya (Isidor) Cofer, Kari  (Alan) Johnson, Jennifer Young, Matthew Barnes, William Charles Cofer (Ashley) Sargent  and Bonnie K. (Dan) Wormsley, seven great grandchildren, with two on the way and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. William “Bill” Kilpatrick Jordan Jr., 95, passed away Aug. 10, 2016, in Due West, SC, where he was a resident of Wylie Care Assisted Living at The Renaissance Retirement Community. Prior to his stay at Wylie, he lived in his beloved community of White Oak, SC. 
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years Jean Bohler Jordan. Born in Wrens, Sept.11, 1920, he was the son of the late William Kilpatrick Jordan Sr. and Marjorie Holt Jordan. Bill was a 1939 North Georgia Military College graduate and served his country in the US Army during WW II from 1942 until 1946. 
He was a charter member of the Lyndon Grove ARP Church in Augusta, Georgia where for forty years he served faithfully as a deacon, elder and church treasurer. Upon moving to White Oak, SC in 2001 he became a active member of the White Oak ARP Church where he also served as elder. 
In 1956 he established Jordan Hardware which served the North Augusta, SC community for over 30 years. He was an active member of Lions International Service Organization and the American Legion for over fifty years. He was also a faithful member of Gideons International. Bill served on the Board of Directors of the United Methodist White Oak Campground located near Harlem, for 25 years. 
He is survived by two children, Herbert K. (Effie) Jordan of Due West, SC and Elizabeth (Harmon) Patrick of White Oak, SC; one granddaughter, Reid Patrick (Todd) Warren  and great-granddaughter, Avery Jordan Warren. Other surviving family members include a sister, Eugenia Chappell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brothers, Paxton (Faye) Jordan  of Foley, ALA, and Andrew (Susan) Jordan of Memphis, TN. He was predeceased by three siblings, Betty Smith, Hopie McElreath Lee and Susie Turner Jordan. Funeral service were held Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the White Oak ARP Church, White Oak, SC with family friend and pastor Dr. Clyde McCants officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Memorials in memory of Mr. Jordan may be made to the White Oak ARP Church (C/O Ivey Matthews, 4874 Patrick Rd., Winnsboro, SC 29180 ) the Lions Club of Winnsboro, (C/O Winnsboro Lions Club, P.O. Box 645, Winnsboro, SC 29180) Gideons International or the charity of one’s choice.

 Ms. Sharon Lee Blackburn Pirozzi, 58, died Friday, July 29, 2016, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C. 
She is survived by her beloved children, Nicolas Tristan Pirozzi of Ocean City, MD, Antonio Daegan Priozzi and Gabriella Rhiannon Pirozzi, both of Birmingham, AL; her parents, Shirley E. and William L. Blackburn of Louisville; and a brother, William L. Blackburn Jr. of Herndon, VA.
She is also survived by her precious bichon frise’, Daisy, who was her constant companion. 
Pirozzi’s ashes were scattered by her children in a private ceremony.
 
 
Mr. Jerry Lawson Swan Sr., devoted husband and father, 85, of Lilburn, formally of Wrens who passed away on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016.
Services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 3 p.m. at Bill Head Funeral Home, Lilburn/Tucker Chapel, with Mrs. Susan Rumble officiating.  A graveside service will be held   1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 in the Ways Baptist Church Cemetery, Stellaville, 
Mr. Swan born in Springfield, TN, raised in Wrens,  graduated from University of Georgia in Accounting and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity.  He spent his 35 year career as an accountant for the Federal Government with GAO, Department of Energy and the Department of Agriculture.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict,  was a member of the Clarkston Masonic Lodge #492 F&AM, the Yaarab Shrine Temple Atlanta and the First Baptist Church of Lilburn.
Mr. Swan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lawson and Grace (Murphey) Swan; son, Jerry Swan, Jr. and his brother, Bob Swan.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Pat Swan of Lilburn, children, Shannon (Matthew) Swan Sapp of Shalimar, FL, Dr. Deanne (Phill) Swan of Springfield, VA and Bryan Swan of Lilburn,  sisters, Norma Cartee of Olive Hill, KY and Ann (Ray) Wren of Evans,  brother Dick (Cheryl) Swan of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Taylor Sapp and Linus Gagné and a 21 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winn Dixie Hope Lodge for Cancer, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA  30033.

 Mrs. Gladys E. Thomas Tijan, 86, of Louisville,  entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016. 
She was born to Addie Rachel and John Thomas Sr. of Sylvania, on July 14, 1930. 
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Louisville,  where she was an outstanding member. 
Mrs. Tijan donated her body to the Medical College of Georgia. Gladys and her deceased husband “Bob” owned and operated The Town Tavern, a local restaurant in downtown Louisville.  
Survivors include a sister, Addie Mae Helms, Louisville; a brother, John Thomas Jr. of Vidette, also two nieces, Betty Black of Millen, Sandra Screws of Swainsboro and several cousins. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Louisville. 
The family will receive friends and visitors in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church social hall following the memorial mass.
