Miss Ruth Adams
Miss Ruth Adams, 99, of Wrens entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Gibson Health and Rehab Center, Gibson.
One of five children born to the late Cora Parker Adams and the late Alvin Hadden Adams, Miss Adams was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. After graduating from Wrens High School, she attended Georgia State College for Women, Milledgeville, where she earned her BS in elementary education. She taught elementary school in Vidalia until 1958, when her father suffered a stroke and she returned home to manage the family farm. She continued her teaching career at Wrens Elementary School, retiring with 31 years of service. Miss Adams was a member of the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. She was baptized in June 1928, and was a member of Wrens Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, with Rev. Sean Heggood and Rev. Jack McCorkle officiating. Interment followed in Wrens Memorial Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings, Alvin Harvey Adams, Louise Adams McCarthy, Mary Frances Adams and Infant Boy Adams.
Survivors include her nieces, Judy Auernheimer and Janis Wilsterman, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; nephew, David “Rocky” Adams (Melody) of Tampa, Fla.; several great-nieces and -nephews; and many cousins.
Pallbearers were Sidney Brown, Emory Clements, Trent Holley, Tommy Jones, John Murphy, Richard Prescott and Brian Whitaker.

Mrs. Gladys Baker
Mrs. Gladys Baker, 81, of North Augusta, S.C., entered into rest on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015.
Mrs. Baker was a native of Louisiana, a former resident of Martinez, having made North Augusta, S.C., her home for the past three years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked on genealogical research.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at noon at Posey Funeral Chapel, with Bishop Jonathon Smith presiding. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. “Gabby” Baker.
Survivors include her son, Robert Baker, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Karen (Thomas) Ulmer, North Augusta, S.C.; brothers, Douglas Strickland, Bacliff, Texas, and Dave Strickland, Shreveport, La.; sister, Ada Anne Nelson, Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Robert Baker, Lorrie Franklin, Zach Chalker and Glynn Ulmer; goddaughter, Lisa Mayson (Michael); and friends, Mike and Vickie Mogilefsky.

Miss Christine Brown
Miss Christine Brown of Warrenton entered into rest on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gibson.
Miss Brown was born June 23, 1939, in Jefferson County to the late Ozzie and Julia Mae Blair-Stone.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Church of Christ of Warrenton, Warrenton, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Daniel as eulogist.
Survivors include her sister and caretaker, Eloise Hobbs, Warrenton; and brothers, Jimmy Lewis Stone and Frankie James Stone, both of Atlanta.

Mr. Anthony Eugene “Tony” Crunkleton
Mr. Anthony Eugene “Tony” Crunkleton, 50, of Toccoa entered into rest on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A son of the late Billy and Dorothy Jean “Dot” Loudermilk Crunkleton, Mr. Crunkleton was born on March 8, 1965, in Swainsboro, having lived in Wadley and Toccoa most of his life. He was a 1983 graduate of Thomas Jefferson Academy. Mr. Crunkleton was a self-employed diesel mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Jameson and Rev. Michael Pless officiating. Interment followed at Stephens Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Crunkleton Arnold Eatherly.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Holley Crunkleton of Toccoa; daughters, Taylor and Kasey Crunkleton of Toccoa, and Connie Crunkleton of Sandy Springs; son, Andrew Crunkleton of Toccoa; brother, Randy (Cindy) Crunkleton of Hartsville, S.C.; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Ruby Holley of Wrens; sister-in-law, Melinda (Charles) Smith of Wadley; brother-in-law, Greg (Alisa) Holley of Wadley; and many aunts, uncles, neices and nephews.

Mrs. Mary G. “Kid” Gamble
Mrs. Mary G. “Kid” Gamble of Wadley entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville.
Mrs. Gamble was a native of Jefferson County, born to the late Joseph Houston and Mattie Lou Grant, and was reared by Mary Gordon. She was married to the late Deacon J.B. Gamble Sr. She was a member of the Limestone Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at noon at Limestone Missionary Baptist Church, Sandersville, with Rev. Johnny R. Sampson as eulogist. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Rodenia Grant, Eula B. Thompson, Tom Grant, Robert Gordon, Lonnie Gordon and Willie Gordon.
Survivors include her children, Dora Gamble, Shirley Jones, Ruby Gamble and J.B. Gamble Jr.; sister-in-law, Ruby L. Mr. Charles “Bo” Dean Isaac
Mr. Charles “Bo” Dean Isaac, 58, of Davisboro entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Sparta Health and Rehabilitation Center.
One of eight children born to the late Mary Schmidt Isaac and the late Paul Isaac, Mr. Isaac grew up in Davisboro on the family’s dairy farm. He was a welder and a heavy equipment operator.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Pinecrest Mennonite Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jewel Isaac.
Survivors include his siblings, Iris Irene Hughes (Richard), Mary Ann Brown, Andy Le Isaac (Brenda), Wava Gail Isaac, Wanetta Mae Rachels (Brinson) and Twila Jo Holdeman (Dale); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Melvis Williams Johnson
Mrs. Melvis Williams Johnson, 84, of Avera entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gibson.
One of nine children born to the late Lula Hardin Williams and the late Lunzy Williams, Mrs. Johnson was born and raised in Avera. She married and moved to Augusta, where she made her home until her health declined, moving in with her nephew in Avera and later to Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gibson. She earned an associate’s degree and was a personal home health care provider and a homemaker. She attended Sherwood Baptist Church until she was no longer able.
Funeral services were held at James Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, with Rev. Nathan Adams and Rev. Dwight DeNegly officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Avera.
She preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Curtis Johnson; children, Jan Johnson and Diane Leggett; all of her siblings, Gladys Newsome, John Williams, James Williams, Bowdry Williams, Margie McGee, LaWanna Williams, Juanita Keen and Infant Williams; niece, Cheryl Keen; nephews, Fay Newsome, Edward Keen and Bruce Keen; and great-nephew, Tim Keen Jr.
Survivors include her nephews, Boyd Williams, Judson Williams, Craig Williams, Andy Williams, Mark Keen, Jim Keen, Tim Keen and Dwight DeNegly; nieces, Bobbie Wuest, Jamie Williams and LuAnn Williams; and friends, Marie Creasy, Jannie Weathers, Daisy Cook, Thelma Epps and Jewel Pittman.

Mr. Thomas Lane of Warrenton entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015.
Mr. Lane joined St. Paul CME Church, Mitchell, at the age of 19. He worked in the lumber industry for more than 40 years.
Celebration of life services were held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 1 p.m. at William Grove Baptist Church, Mitchell, with Rev. James Louis Neal as eulogist and Rev. Larry Medlock presiding.

Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson Washington
Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson Washington of Augusta entered into rest on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at Georgia Regents Medical Center.
Mrs. Washington was born on March 14, 1933, in Gibson to the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd (Eva Dye) Dawson.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at noon at United House of Prayer For All People, Augusta, with Elder J.H. Blair officiating. Interment was in Southview Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Fannie Dawson and Louise Washington; and brothers, Charlie Dawson, Walter E. Dawson, Willie Dawson, John Henry Dawson and Roy Dawson.
Survivors include her husband, George Washington Jr. of Augusta; sisters, Lillie Mae Bradley and Mary Dawson, both of Augusta; brothers, Donald (Clara) Dawson and Ray (Brenda) Dawson, both of Augusta; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Allen Fr. Wren
Mr. Allen Fr. Wren, 88, of Augusta entered into rest on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015.
Mr. Wren was born in Glascock County and attended Warrenton High School. He was a member of Augusta Old Line Primitive Baptist Church and a former deacon. Mr. Wren served three years in the U.S. National Guard. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Allen Wren TV Repair Service for 44 years.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Augusta Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Dwayne Hooven officiating. Burial followed at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Joe Wren; and brother, Euell Wren.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen Brooks Wren; son, Barry Wren (Dawn) of Martinez; daughters, Jean Roper (Mark) of Evans, Janet Ergle (Gary) of Augusta, Diane Goldman (Marty) of Evans, Donna Edwards (Dennis) of Lincolnton, and Carol Crews (Randy) of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Klonnie Lewis, Bernice Jackson, Catherine Wren, Mildred Raley and Walter C. Wren Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
