Deacon Jay Lynn Davis, 77, 19 Hillside Drive, Wrightsville, departed this life, Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at his residence.
Viewing was held Saturday, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Cemetery, Wrightsville.
Deacon Davis was a native of Johnson County, born to the parentage of the late Roosevelt Davis and Johnnie Mae Wright Davis. He was a Deacon and dedicated member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. “Red” as he was affectionately called worked as a carpenter at Electric Mech Score Board for over 25 years. Fatherhood was the ultimate title in his life.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Brantley Davis, Wrightsville; his children, Michael Antony (Natasha) Wrightsville, Ricky (Latasha) Davis, Harrison, Carsondra (Alex) Scruggs, Savannah; two brothers, Bennie Lee (Julia Mae) Davis, Wrightsville, Thomas (Betty) Telfair, Harrison; one grandchild, Miktavious Stephens, Wrightsville; step grandchildren, Kayla Goodman, Alex Scruggs, Jr., Tyrell Sampson, Tyeshia Sampson, Shontaris Gainer and Keria Marion; aunts and uncles, James L. Wright, CA and Ethel Gene Wright, Wrightsville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joseph (Mary) Brantley, Atlanta, Jimmy Brantley, Dublin, Rosa Brantley, N.Y., Bobbie Josey, Dorothy Brantley, Mary Clover and Curtis Clover, Wrightsville; two devoted neighbors, Christine Shine and Darlene Butler.
