A memorial service for Mrs. Geraldine Brett Farrington was held at Moxley Baptist Church, 1649 Pete Smith Road in Wadley, on her birthday, Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017 at 1 p.m. There was a time of fellowship after the service in the fellowship hall.
Mrs. Geraldine Brett Farrington, born Oct. 10, 1933 in Emanuel County to Paul and Amanda Brett, died Aug. 24, 2017.
A child of farmers who were determined to send their daughters to college, she earned degrees from Brewton Parker and Tift College to become a teacher of Humanities. She taught more than 30 years in public schools.
As an avocation, Gerry taught Bible Study all of her adult life. She believed teaching was her calling just as her husband, J.C. Farrington, was called to… ministry. In 2009, she was herself ordained as a minister.
She is predeceased by her husband; infant son, Curtis Farrington; sisters, Pauline Brett and Ouida Manning; and granddaughter, Claudia Pezzino.
Gerry is missed by her surviving children, Judy Farrington Aust, Evelyn Farrington Perry, and Pauline Farrington; her grandchildren, John Pezzino, Amanda Francis, Sarah Rutowski, and Owen Aust; great-grandson, Coleman Pezzino; and sister, Linda Brett Chappell.
