Mrs. Frances Carpenter Bernhard, 101, wife of the late Mr. Herbert Leo Bernhard, died Dec. 19, 2016.
Mrs. Bernhard was a native of Wrens, she was a graduate of Middle Georgia College. Mrs. Bernhard was an active sportswoman, loved to dance, play golf and bowl.
Family members include her son, James Erik  (Shirley) Bernhard; step-grandson, Stephen Bell; and many loving nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George L. and Alice Weltch Carpenter; brother, Jack Carpenter; sisters, Dorothy Carpenter, Virginia Carpenter Long, Helen Carpenter Richardson and Kathryn Carpenter Brinson.
A Mass of Christian Resurrection will be Thursday, Jan. 5, 2016, 11 a.m. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Hull officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers please make charitable contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 550, South Tower, Atlanta, GA 30303.
The family will receive friends in the narthex 30 minutes prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Mrs. Judith Ortiz Cofer, 64, of Louisville,  died Friday morning, Dec.30, 2016 at her residence.
A native of Hormiguerros, Puerto Rico, Judith was a daughter of the late J. M. Ortiz Lugo and Fanny Morot Ortiz. She was a retired Professor of English and creative writing with the University of Georgia. Judith was a prolific literary writer in multiple genres, and received many awards for her writing and teaching. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Cofer was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband, Charles John Cofer of Louisville; daughter, Tanya Cofer of St. Simons; brother, Rolando Ortiz of West Palm Beach, FL; grandson, Elias John Ruderfer of St. Simons; son in law, Isidor F. Ruderfer of St. Simons; brother in law, Jerry W. Cofer of Louisville; sister in laws, Diane Cofer Barnes and Julie Cofer Sargent of Louisville; nephew, Alexander Ortiz of Washington, DC; cousin, Kenneth Rodriguez of Louisville; many family members in Louisville, Puerto Rico and Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Ruby Mathis Davis, 78, of Louisville, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at University Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m.Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church, Mitchell, with Rev. James James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Thomas Davis, John Davis, Luke Davis, Charles Mathis, Steve Mathis and Mack Holloway.
A native of Glascock County, Ruby was the daughter of the late Elijah Thomas Mathis and Martha Susan Raley Mathis. Mrs. Davis was a retired cashier and bookkeeper with Piggly Wiggly and Ingles and a member of Martin’s Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church in Lincolnton. 
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, April Marie Landrum; brothers, Charlie Lamar Mathis and Harry Mathis and is survived by daughter, Brenda and Mack Holloway of Lincolnton; sons, Ricky Davis of Louisville and Gerald and Wanda Davis of Gibson; sister, Daisy (J.L.) Chalker of Gibson; brothers, Tommy (Pat) Mathis of Hilliard, FL and Roy (Jane) Mathis of Griffin; grandchildren, Jamie Landrum, Brandi (Keith) Taylor, Dawn Davis, Emily Allen, Thomas (Leah) Davis, John Davis and Luke Davis; great grandchildren, Madison Kelly, Chandler Taylor, Camryn Taylor, Ashton Hadden, Hunter Hadden, Reese Hadden and R. J. Allen; many nieces, nephews and friends.

 Mrs.Elizabeth Arrington Stewart Huff, 91, loving wife of the late Lester Stewart and the late Lewis Huff, and devoted companion of the late Wallace Sikes, entered into her eternal rest Wednesday morning, Dec. 28, 2016 at University Heart Vascular Center in Augusta. Funeral services were held in the James Funeral Home Chapel Saturday afternoon, Dec. 31, with Reverend Albert “Bucky” Halford officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Huff one of ten children born to the late Laura Sellers Arrington and the late John Arrington, Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of the CSRA, having resided in Burke, Richmond and Jefferson counties and living in Stapleton since 1965. An industrious, hard-worker, she worked as a Trimmer at Stapleton Garment Company, retiring with 30 years of service while raising eight children. 
Mrs. Huff is also preceded in death by four children, Evelyn Mobley, Barbara Ann Prescott, Mary Faye Newsome and Lester Lynwood Stewart; seven siblings, Carrie Amerson, Louise Smith, Lois Holland, Ruth Andrews, Voncil Prickett, Liza Mae Prickett and Alton Stewart; two grandsons, James Akerson and Rodney L. Snipes; and three great grandsons, Dennis Miller Jr., Austin Thigpen and Mark Purvis. Survivors include four children, Lonnie F. (Peggy) Stewart, Terry Stewart, Geraldine  (James)Snipes  and Sarah( George) Snipes ; two brothers, Grady  (Carolyn) Stewart  and James (Wanda) Stewart  21 grandchildren, Dale (April) Mobley  Joey Mobley, Lisa  (Bob)Usry  Dianne (Buddy) Rabitch), Susan Prescott, Tanny (Janet) Prescott , Bill Prescott, Linda Miller, Robbie Newsome, Brenda Newsome, Beth Newsome, Sharon (Tim) Baxter, Pam (Tony) Davis, Dana (Isao) Holmes, Lonnie Quick, Cindy (Mitch) Thigpen, Terry Stewart Jr., Angela (Tim) Usry, Benjamin (Nicole) Snipes, April (Colby) Glosson and Tammy L. Broome; 45 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Travis Baxter, Justin Hadden, Lonnie Quick, Ben Snipes, Dylan Snipes and Tim Usry.

 Mrs. Patricia Fair Lamb, 77, of Louisville, entered into rest Dec. 30, 2016, graveside services were held Jan. 3, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Louisville City Cemetery. Dr. William H. Daniel officiating.
Mrs. Lamb was born and raised in Jefferson County. She worked for a number of years with the University of Georgia Extension Service as a Home Economist and later worked and retired from the State of Georgia Department of Family Children Services as a Medical Specialist. Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Cleveland Brinson (Sonny) Lamb, III. They had a lifelong love story which began in the first grade and culminated in marriage when they both graduated from the University of Georgia. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Clarke Phillips Lamb and her parents, Ernest Vaughn Fair and Ruby Bridges Fair.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Cleve ( Machelle) Lamb, Louisville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Paige ( Jim) Toteno , Savannah, Gwen( Jeff ) Stropoli, Conyers and Beth ( Matt )Clark, Louisville; eight grandchildren, Colby Brinson Lamb, Bethany Camille Lamb, Anna Grace Lamb, Laine Amoret Brown, Hampton Haulbrook Brown, Samuel Brinson Clark, Addison Fair Clark and Emerson Mize Clark; her brother, and his wife, Ret. Col. Roy( Elizabeth) Vaughn Fair, Snellville, Georgia; brother-in-law, William Joel (Billy) Lamb, Louisville; a number of nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers were William Hadden, Russell Manning, Olin Neatherland, Bobby Livingston and Tommy New. Active Pallbearers were Barry Wren, Lawson Brown, Joel Lamb, Colby Lamb, Hampton Brown and Kyle Geise.

Mrs. Louise Whitfield Mason of Riddleville,  departed this life Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at the Emanuel County Medical Center, Swainsboro.
Mrs. Mason was a native of Washington County. She was born the daughter to the parentage of the late Jimmie and Mamie Lue Whitfield. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Rev. Alvin Mason, Nov. 17, 1956 and to this union six children were born. She was educated in the Washington County School System. Mrs. Whitfield worked as a seamstress for over 35 years and a few years at Joette Factory, and was a devoted homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son; Hollis Mason. 
Survivors include her loving and devoted children; Alvin Lue (Willie) Askew, Wrightsville,  Marie (Thurston) Badie, Swainsboro,  Paula Pace, Pembroke Pines, Florida, Paul Mason, and Alvin Mason, Jr., Bartow, one sister; Georgia Ann Hall, Davisboro, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws; Ella Mae Whitfield, Bridgeton, New Jersey, Bishop Ozzie Mason, Meriden, Conn, Elder Douglas Mason, Bartow,  Pastor Russell Mason, Swainsboro,  Pedro Mason, Swainsboro,  and Ellis (Earnestine) Mason, Rutherglen, VA, grandchildren; Christopher Samples, San Antione, Texas, Demetria Rountree, Swainsboro,  Kendrick Dion Pace, Retired Air Force, Planation, Florida, Nathaniel Pace, Jr., US Army, Ft Drum, New York,  CW01 Travis (Roxanne) Campfield, Army, Savannah,  and Tyeshia Strickland, East Dublin, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the China Temple Holiness Church, 83 East Trilby Street, Wrightsville. Burial will follow in the Mason Family Cemetery, Kite.

Mr. Harry Jerrell Price, 63, of Wadley funeral service were held Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Kite Church of God with Reverend Allen Meeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home in Wadley on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. He died  Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Harry Jerrell Price was born in Wadley, son of the late Grover Tebe Price and Shirley Walker Edmunds Price. He had worked as a commercial truck driver for many years, and he was a member of Kite Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn W. Price; son, Terry (Jamie) Price; daughters, Angela (Ryan) Jackson, Christy (Keith) Radford, and Tonya (Chris) Conner; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Price; and sisters, Debra Wilson, Sheryl Price and Tammy Price.
