Mr. William A. Stallsmith

Graveside committal services for William A. Stallsmith, age 87, who died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m. at Rose Dhu Cemetery in Vidette with the Rev. Bill Cain officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the grave site. There will be a memorial service held later at 1:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Louisville. A visitation with the family will follow at the church social hall. 
Mr. Stallsmith was a native of Detroit, MI and had lived in Vidette for the past 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 1949 until Dec. 1986. He retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, W-4. Eighteen years of service were spent as a special agent, military intelligence. He was awarded “bronze stars” for Korean and Vietnam campaigns. He was a life member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and a life member of the American Legion. He was a charter member of the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA). He was a Ruling Elder and Elder Emeritus at Louisville ARP Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Marjorie M. Stallsworth, Vidette; a daughter, Susan M. Symonds (Richard) of Goucester, VA; two sons, Robert A. Stallsmith (Teresa) of Harvest, AL, and Wade A. Stallsmith (Julie) of Charlotte Hall, MD. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Stallsmith and Lela Eleanor Thompson. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Stallsmith and one sister, Joan Von Tobel.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Louisville ARP Presbyterian Church, 824 Walnut Street, Louisville, GA, 30434.
  Burke Memorial Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is in charge of arrangements.
