Mr. Jerry Josey, age 74 of River Road, Wadley, died Friday morning, Dec. 1, 2017 in Jefferson Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Freedom Fellowship Church with Rev. Vina Mae Josey and Mr. Clark Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be: Mark Brown, Michael Brown, David Josey, Aaron Price, Caleb Wiggins and Andy Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jay Sasser, Thomas Poole, Lamar Baxley, Randall Meeks and James Robinson.
A native of Washington County, Jerry was a son of the late Ollis Everett Josey and Blanch Elizabeth Smith Josey. He was the retired owner of Josey Trucking and a member of Freedom Fellowship Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife, Brenda S. Josey of Louisville; daughters, Renea and Joe Oglesby of Waynesboro and Tina Coleman of Bartow; step-sons, who he loved as his own, Lance and Becky Poole of Stapleton and Brad and Lisa Poole of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; mother of his children, Jerolene Josey of Louisville; sister, June Simpson of Martinez; brothers, Ronnie and Violet Josey of Bartow, Wayne and Kathy Josey of Bartow and William and Donna Josey of Bartow; his furry companions, Little Boy and Pretty girl; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will received friends 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wounded Warriors and the Humane Society of your choice.
The family will gather at the home of Tom and Nancy Austin, 2545 Clarks Mill Road, Louisville.
