Ms. Janice Davis Murchison age 71 of 118 McGahee Street, Wrens, passed on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 at the Keysville Nursing Home, Keysville.
Ms. Janice Murchison was born to the parentage of Mr. Jessie Davis and Dillie McGahee Davis on Aug. 23, 1946 in Wrens.
Janice was a graduate of Central High, class of 1963 located in Newark, NJ. She continued her education by receiving her BA degree at Mount Clair State College.
Janice enjoyed cheerleading and being a seamstress. She worked as a purchaser for a major New York retailer for years.
Janice relocated back to Wrens, in November 2009 after retiring as a Transportation Security Administration Agent (TSA) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at the New York International Airport. She worked part time at the Glit Manufacturing Company in Wrens, for several years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Davis.
She is survived by her loving son, Malcolm Murchison of Wrens; granddaughter, Tileah Murchison and grandson, Rajon Murchison both of Newberry, S.C.; mother, Dillie Davis Edwards of Wrens; sister, Phyllis (Asim) Salahuddin of Edison, NJ; niece, Nidiyah Salahuddin of Edison, NJ; nephew, Kashif (Melissa) Salahuddin of Piscataway, NJ; aunt, Evelyn Hughes of Linden, NJ, a close cousin like a sister, Priscilla Chappell of Wrens, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Wrens Chapel A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. Chekibe Holman, Pastor, Officiating. Interment: New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Funeral procession will leave the residence of her mother, Mrs. Dillie Davis Edwards, 307 Hill St., Wrens, at 12:35 p.m. Freeman Funeral Home, 402 Curtis St., Wrens, GA in charge of arrangements.
