Mrs. Geradline Brett Farrington

Geraldine Brett Farrington, born Oct. 10, 1933 in Emanuel County, to Paul and Amanda Brett, died Aug. 24, 2017. 
A child of farmers who were determined to send their daughters to college, she earned degrees from Brewton Parker and Tift College to become a teacher of Humanities. She taught more than 30 years in public schools.
As an avocation, Gerry taught Bible Study all of her adult life. She believed teaching was her calling just as her husband, J.C. Farrington, was called to ministry. In 2009, she was herself ordained as a minister.
She is predeceased by her husband; infant son, Curtis Farrington; sisters, Pauline Brett and Ouida Manning; and granddaughter, Claudia Pezzino.
Gerry is missed by her surviving children, Judy Farrington Aust, Evelyn Farrington Perry, and Pauline Farrington; her grandchildren, John Pezzino, Amanda Francis, Sarah Rutowski, and Owen Aust; great-grandson, Coleman Pezzino; and sister, Linda Chappell.
Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 6900 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m.; and Moxley Baptist Church, Wadley, on her birthday, Oct. 10, 2017 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Knoxville, or Shekinah Baptist Assembly in Louisville.
