Della Mae Shipman, age 69, died June 4, 2017 and received her homegoing service at Harts Grove Baptist Church in Stapleton on Saturday, June 10, with the Rev. Willie F. Hampton officiating and Rev. Dr. Willie L. Jones presiding.
Della was born on Nov. 22, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Ola Mae Patterson.
She attended the Jefferson County School System. She joined Harts Grove Baptist Church at an early age. In 1982, she moved to Columbia, S.C., where she was employed at the University of South Carolina for 20 years. She retired in 2007. In 2008, she moved back to her childhood home in Wrens to enjoy her retirement and her love of cooking, crocheting and watching westerns.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her two sons: Karmon Hipman of Wrens and Craig Shipman of Leesburgh; one sister, Annie (Marshall) Hannah of Wrens; one brother, Anthoney Patterson of Wrens; three grandchildren, Craig K. Shipman, Nhandi J. Long-Shipman and Semaj N. Long-Shipman, all of Columbia, S.C.; two special friends, Evelyn Terrell and B.J. (Barbara) Grubbs of Wrens; two uncles; one aunt; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Burnette Funeral Home of Wrens was in charge of services.
