Ms. Joyce Newton, age 73, of Highway 17 South, Louisville, died May 31, 2017 at her residence.
Graveside services were held 4 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens, Statesboro, with Mr. Barry Wren officiating. Pallbearers were Ms. Newtons nephews.
A native of Candler County, Joyce was a daughter of the late Curtis McKinley Bowers and Lena Bell Davis Bowers. She retired as a school bus driver with Bulloch County Board of Education after 30 years of service.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Wendell Newton; brothers, Earl Bowers and Billy Bowers and sister, Joann Lowery and is survived by son, Ernie and Leslie Newton of Louisville; daughter, Tammy Newton of Statesboro; grandson, McKinley Newton of Louisville; sisters, Faye Youmans of Metter and Diane Mercer of Metter; brothers, Gary and Jan Bowers of Metter and Larry Bowers of Statesboro, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the Newton family request memorials be made to Brentwood School Athletic Department, P. O. Box 955, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
In honor of Joyce, the family had a memorial gathering 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the home of Ernie and Leslie Newton, 5555 Highway 17, South, Louisville, GA 30434.
