Mrs. Mamie Lee Cunningham Brooks of Miramar, Fla., entered into rest on Oct. 26, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Pembroke, Fla.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Louisville to the late Willie James Sr. and Margaret McBride Cunningham on Dec. 1, 1916. She was educated in the Jefferson County School System. At an early age, she became a member of Spring Bethel AME Church. In 1951, she moved to Florida and became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. In 2013, she was honored for her service as an Usher for 45 years and later honored as Mother of the Church. She was employed by Steinfield Thompson Cannery and as a caretaker for the Schmidt family of Miami, Fla.
Graveside services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Spring Bethel Society Cemetery, Louisville, with Rev. Charles Holloway presiding.
Survivors include her daughter, Eugenia Ashley of Miramar, Fla.; sons, Reginald Brooks Sr. (Sherra) of Columbus, and Arsiels Brooks Jr. of Dania, Fla.; sister, Alberta Loyd of Louisville; grandchildren, Danis Bivens (Valerie), Louise Horice, Nathan Randolph, Nathaniel Randolph (Lawanda), Tracy Myers, Celeste DeBose (James), Jamila Barnett, Reginald Brooks Jr. and Roger Jones; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Pete Farrer, 72, of Rabun Gap, formerly of Toccoa, entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
Born March 8, 1943, in Sandersville, Mr. Farrer was the son of the late Melvin T. and Mary Lee Hartley Farrer. Mr. Farrer was a member of the Toccoa First Baptist Church and was a retired Corporal with the Georgia State Patrol.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at First Baptist Church, with Sam Letson and Andrew Pavliscsak officiating. Flag honors and presentation were provided by the Georgia State Patrol. Entombment followed at Roselane Mausoleum.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Farrer Hutchins.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Penny Bridges Farrer of Rabun Gap; daughters, Tamera (Kenneth) Cash of Toccoa, and Michele (Dale) Williams of Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Chan Cash, Jace Williams, and Kenzie Cash; sister, Melvina Farrer Blocker of Wadley; and a niece and nephews.
Pallbearers were Georgia State Troopers.

Mrs. Betty Joyce Holt, 67, of Dearing entered into rest on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Don Widener officiating.
Mrs. Holt was a native of Jefferson County, but had lived in Dearing for many years. She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church, Gibson.
Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Bouthry (Donnie), Dearing; grandsons, Robert G. Holt (Cenessa Lovelace) and Payne Bradshaw; great-grandson, Korion Holt; cousins, Joan Bachman (Bruce), Jason Norris, Stephanie Norris, and Gwynn and Dean Couch.

Mr. Aubrey Jackson Ledger Jr., 54, of Martinez entered into rest on Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Ledger was a native of Augusta, but had lived in Bartow for most of his life. He was the son of the late Aubrey Jackson Ledger Sr. and Doris Ann Rachels Ledger. Before retiring, Mr. Ledger worked for J.P. Stevens as a line operator and was a member of Bartow Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Bartow Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Harris officiating. Burial followed in Bartow City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sisters, Carol Ann Ledger of Bartow, and Fran L. Stanley of Atlanta; nephew, Stephen (Laura) Stanley; niece, Jennifer (Jonathan) Herring; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Solomon Alva “Al” Newsome, 84, of Augusta entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Newsome, son of the late Sam Newsome and Florine Hardin Newsome, was born in Jefferson County, and graduated from Stapleton High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife owned and operated A&C Hardware for many years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Green Meadows Country Club.
Memorial services were held on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at noon at Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors Chapel, with Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Olin, Gene and B.T. Newsome; and sister, Orie Collins.

Mrs. Sellers was a native of Ellijay, but made Wrens her home for many years. She attended Wrens Baptist, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and Keenagers.

Mr. Lonnie Anthony Thornton of Davisboro entered into rest on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, at Coliseum Medical Center, Macon.
Mr. Thornton was a native of Washington County, born to Gloria Ann Thornton Fort and the late Lonnie Comer Passmore in Augusta. He was a member of the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Davisboro. He was a 1981 graduate of Washington County High School. He served in the U.S. Marines, and held several of jobs with Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Duraline and Thermo King, Inc. He was currently employed at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Davisboro. Burial was on Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Garden, Milledgeville.
